2011-2012 PTO Committees

Book Fair

The Book Fair is held in November.  The books are from Scholastic and are reasonably priced.  Volunteers are needed to help run the fair when it is open and for set-up and take down.

Box Tops

General Mills Box Tops are collected throughout the school year.  Box Top Challenges are also held, with homerooms competing against each other for the highest amount of box tops collected. Winning rooms receive a free ice cream treat.  Box Tops are redeemed for various school related purchases with the majority going to the Physical Education department.

Friday Ice Cream Sales

Ice cream for 2011-2012 school year will be sold in the cafeteria on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month to students.  The cost is 75 cents and students can choose from four ice cream selections.  There is also an option provided for students with food allergies.  Volunteers (3 or 4) are needed for each Friday sale. All proceeds benefit the students and/or the school.

Gift Wrap Sale

The gift wrap sale is held in the fall after the magazine drive.  A company provides catalogs in which people can order from an assortment of gift wraps, bows and ribbon, candles and other small gift items.  Volunteers are needed to check and total orders, and hand out products.

Hot Lunch

Hot lunches are offered two times per month.  In the 2008-2009 school year, pizza will be served on the 1st Friday of the month and a rotation of Rally's and Jersey Mike’s on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, unless otherwise stated.  Order forms are sent home in advance. Volunteers are needed for hot lunch days to help with the distribution of the lunches.

Magazine Drive

The Magazine Drive is the largest fundraiser the PTO holds each year.  It runs for two weeks in September, with special turn in days where students are eligible for prizes. Volunteers (10–12) are needed on each of the turn in days for checking and double checking submitted orders along with setting up daily prizes.

Market Day

Market Day is a monthly event where families can order a variety of frozen and packaged food items through the Market Day Company and then pick it up at school.  Order forms are sent home or you can order online.  Volunteers are needed to make reminder phone calls as well as help the day of pick-up.

Room Parent Coordinator

The Room Parent Coordinators (2) select the room parents for each classroom in each grade level based on volunteer sheets received in the spring of each year. Duties include being the liaison between the PTO, the room parents and the teachers. The Coordinators collect and distribute party money to the room parents.  Special events such as Confirmation, First Communion, First Reconciliation, Graduation brunch and the First Grade Christmas Play are also organized by the coordinators.  Room Parent Coordinators also maintain the PTO closet inventory (party and paper goods for Room Parent activities) and assist Head Room Parents with monthly bake sales.

School Supply Sale

This program began in the summer of 2000 as a convenience to parents. It has grown every year. Order forms are sent home in May. The distribution of the supplies is held on one evening, in August, before school starts, in the gym. Volunteers are needed to help with the distribution of the school supply kits.

Lunch with Santa

Lunch with Santa is held on the second Saturday in December. This event includes a Secret Santa shop, lunch, games and a visit with Santa.  Volunteers are needed throughout the day to help students in the shop, work at the booths during the lunch and help with both set up and take down.

Walk-A-Thon

The Walk- A-Thon is held in early May, rain or shine. It generates a considerable profit for the PTO. Walk-A-Thon has several subcommittees including: T-Shirt Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Turn-in Days Coordinator, Snack Coordinator, Correspondence Coordinator and Cookie/Pop Coordinator.
