Accelerated Reader Program

 The Accelerated Reader (A.R.) Program is a great way to entice students to read!

First, students select a book to read that St. Dominic owns a quiz to, read the book, then take an A.R. test at school to test their comprehension of the book. If they pass the quiz, the student is awarded points. These points go into a "bank."

Introducing the SHARP STUDENT PROGRAM :

     Students with High Accelerated Reader Points

   Here's how it works:

In order to be considered a SHARP student, you have to have be a

Student with High Accelerated Reader Points.

Below is the number of points you need to be considered a SHARP STUDENT:

 K = 1/2 point

                                         1 = 1 point

 2 = 2 points

 3 = 3 points

 4 = 4 points

 5 = 5 points

 6 = 6 points

 7 = 7 points

 8 = 8 points

Once you have reached your   point goal, you will sign your name on the Sharp Student Sign, and receive a small prize.¼/SPAN>

At the END OF THE QUARTER,

one SHARP Student’s name from each grade level will be pulled from a hat to receive their choice from a selection of books

(and maybe other prizes!)

Each week when you come to LIBRARY, the new SHARP students from your class will be announced, and they will be given time to pick their prize.  These names will also be announced on the news!)

At the END OF THE QUARTER, the SHARP students’ whose names are drawn for the prize will be announced on the news.

We will start fresh EACH QUARTER, so you can continue to earn prizes!!!!

Interested in volunteering at the library?

We are always looking for energetic parents and grandparents to help out in the library. There are tons of fun things to do--help with displays, check books in & out, shelve, get new books ready to circulate, participate in storytimes, and so much more! You can sign up to come just once or once a month. Please know that your time is greatly appreciated by both the students and the library staff. Give Mrs. Almer a ring at (513) 251-1276 ext. 450 if you would like to sign up. Thanks!
